What is MyOwnTeach?
A practice tool for independent language teachers who teach adults online. It handles student records, booking, packages, invoices and payments. It isn't a marketplace: it won't find you students, and it takes no commission on the ones you have.
Who is it for?
Anyone who teaches a language for income, anywhere, with or without a formal qualification. We don't check credentials or vet teachers: your students already chose you. Students must be 18 or over, and they confirm it when they join.
How much does it cost?
Free covers up to 5 active students, with no card needed. Pro covers unlimited students and is priced by region in three bands, so teachers in richer countries pay more and teachers elsewhere pay less. The pricing page shows the price where you are.
Do you take commission?
No. 0% on every lesson, on every plan. If you take card payments, Stripe charges its own processing fee and keeps it. We keep none of it.
How do payments work in my country?
Where Stripe Connect works in your country, students pay by card and the whole fee goes to your own Stripe account. Where it doesn't, take payment the way you already do (PayPal, Wise, bank transfer or cash) and record it. Packages, receipts and earnings count both.
How do time zones work?
Your booking page shows your free slots in each visitor's own time zone, and every booking and reminder shows both times. Weekly lessons keep their local time across daylight-saving changes.
Which currencies can I charge in?
About 50. Choose yours when you set up, and invoices, receipts and earnings use it.
Is video built in?
On Pro, yes: a private video room on each lesson page, in the browser. Nothing to install, nothing recorded. On any plan you can paste your own Zoom, Google Meet or other link instead, and give a single lesson its own link when you need to.
Are my students mine?
Yes. The relationship and the records are yours. Export your data any time, and take it with you if you leave.
What about privacy?
We follow GDPR for everyone, wherever you and your students live. For your students' data you're the controller and we're your processor. Our privacy notice lists the services we use and where they are.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time. A cancelled Pro plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, then drops to Free. Your students and records stay. Over 5 active students on Free, you keep them all but can't add more.
